Calais is no less than a haven for shopping freaks. Shopping in Calais is all about supermarkets, chocolatiers, cheese shops, boulangeries, tobacco, wine shops and a lot more.
You will find most shops open here from 9am to 7pm. The market remains open during these hours on weekdays, from Monday to Saturday. Some shops close for lunch from 12pm to 2pm; however, there are also some exceptions. Most shops remain closed on Sundays and public holidays including January 1st, Easter Monday, Labour day, Victory Day 1945, Ascension Day, Whit Monday, Bastille day, August 15th (Assumption), November 1st (All saints Day), November 11th (Armistice day), and Christmas. Food outlets, including bakeries and restaurants, remain open on Sundays as well as on public holidays.
You can find perfect bus service throughout Calais. In addition, free parking is also available on streets near to the boulevards. You can shop in Euros in Calais. Calais is brimming with delights for shoppers. The exciting news is that you can shop in genuine French shops at affordable prices!

and Champagnes at cheap prices, in fact, almost everything is cheaper in Calais. You can save up to 25% on various products. The most famous and popular shopping street of Calais is Rue Royale. It has been recently modernized and new bars have opened up here. There are lots of small boutiques, cafes and bars as well. Rue Royal has great shops, which are definitely worth checking out.
Rene Classe is a crockery shop where you can purchase (or just peruse!) beautiful crockery and porcelain by Lalique, Christophle and Baccarat crystal. All these items are much cheaper than in the UK. Brulerie La Tour is another brilliant shop where there are about 70 different types of teas. Au Royal Chocolate is an appealing chocolate shop offering irresistible chocolates.
There is a new shopping centre near Boulevard Jacquard and Boulevard Lafayette. It is called the Living Centre. Calais is known for beautiful machine-made laces. If you are a lace lover, do visit Royal Dentelle at 106 Boulevard Jacquard. You can buy genuine Calais lace, including place mats and tablecloths and appealing lingerie lined with laces.
If you want to buy more general items, visit City D Europe and for designer bargains, Marques Avenue Factory Outlet is the right option.
In Calais, sales are on in January and June and last for about 5 to 6 weeks. You can find some great bargains during this period. You should have 1 Euro coin in hand, as you will need them to get refundable trolleys at supermarkets. You can obtain a trolley from the parking areas. Just insert a coin and it will unchain.
You can also buy fabulous cheeses of Calais and fresh seafood. Remember not to overload your car with goods, as you can be fined here for this. You should check your allowed limit as well as tyre pressure, before buying or loading these items in your car.
No doubt, Calais is a shopper's delight. There is no reason why you should not visit Calais and enjoy economical and endless shopping!
