Terrazzo Cleaning

Terrazzo requires special cleaning care and consistent maintenance in order to maintain the beautiful look that is characteristic of this magnificent stone.  The terrazzo cleaning process can be complicated depending on the wear and tear that the terrazzo endures.

TerrazzoFloorRepair.com recommends that the marble floor be cleaned regularly with a simple neutral cleaning solution.  A few drops of a neutral cleaner mixed with warm water will be all that is necessary to remove dirt and grime from your terrazzo floors.  It’s best to clean the terrazzo floor with a soft absorbent cloth.  This way you can be sure that the terrazzo cleaning cloth will not scratch the terrazzo flooring surface. 

Terrazzo chips are mixed with Portland cement which can be porous, therefore absorbing more of the daily dirt and grime that gets walked across the terrazzo floor.   As such, we recommend that you have your terrazzo floors professionally cleaned so the terrazzo, and the base of Portland cement, can be impregnated.

You may find that cleaning your terrazzo floor with a damp mop, or cloth, as described here is only necessary on occasion, as a simple dust mopping will remove surface debris from the terrazzo on a daily basis.
